WELCOME
āIf they could say it, they wouldnāt have to show it.ā
That simple truth changed everything for meāand now, itās the heart of SheTeachesMe.
Welcome. Iām so glad youāre here.
I created SheTeachesMe as a place for families, educators, and caregivers who are tired of feeling lost, judged, or unsupported when it comes to raising or teaching neurodivergent kids. Here, we believe behavior is communication, different isnāt less, and sometimes, the best support isnāt found in a textbookāitās found in a story.
While my long-term dream is to open the SheTeachesMe Learning Center, life had other plansāand sooner than expected. So for now, Iām switching gears and going all in with something powerful: in-home consultations, personalized tutoring, and real, hands-on support for kids who learn differently.
This is not a āone size fits allā approach.
Itās custom. Itās personal. Itās what they actually need.
In a crowded bar, two friends argue over a forgotten debt. Voices rise, tensions mount, and suddenly, a punch is thrown. This breakdown in communication mirrors a critical issue in our societyāeven those with the ability to speak often resort to aggression when they fail to connect. Now, imagine a child who has never been given the tools to say, 'Iām upset,' or 'I need help.' Just like in the bar, their frustration might manifest as aggression, not out of choice but necessity. Teaching communication is more than just teaching words; itās teaching someone to express their needs and desires without resorting to physical outbursts. Funny thing about our society; we are more likely to forget and dismiss the gentlemen throwing punches but if your child resorts to physical contact to express themselves, it follows them the rest of their academic life.

WHO I AM
Hey thereāIām Heather.
Iām a mom of three, a special education teacher, behavior consultant, autism advocate, and the woman who created SheTeachesMe out of lived experience and whole-hearted determination.
Iāve walked through Target holding my nonverbal daughter during a sensory meltdown.
Iāve rewritten lesson plans at midnight for students who werenāt learning the ārightā way.
Iāve sat on floors, in IEP meetings, and across kitchen tables with parents who just wanted someone to say, āYouāre doing better than you think.ā
Thatās why Iām hereāto teach the part of the journey most people donāt see.
Because when we learn how to listen to behavior, how to build executive functioning, and how to honor communication in all its forms, we stop seeing the child as the problemāand start becoming the solution.
